Featured on Wedding’s Unveiled!
The gals over at Weddings Unveiled wedding blog, Completely Unveiled just put together an amazing feature about Debbie and Clay’s early fall nuptials. This was such a fabulous wedding, it was held on Pawley’s Island where Clay spent much of his childhood. The ceremony took place at a small historic chapel which was packed from wall to wall with friends and family. The wedding party then made their way by boat to a private residence where guests mingled under the lantern hung oaks and dancing under a chandeliered tent which was elegant, glamorous and whimsical all at the same time! Debbie, named after the southern sweet, Little Debbies, had a cupboard filled with the sweet-treats placed under an oak which guests passed on the way out. The sign on top read “Clay’s Second Favorite.” After the cake cutting Debbie and her best friend snuck away where they changed Debbie into a shorter version of her gown which she came running back under the tent wearing!
Love this idea: Debbie wore her grandmother’s wedding ring pinned to her gown during the wedding.

The right light!
My first order of business when I arrive on location is to start scouting the light. Yes, settings, backgrounds, waterscapes, architecture… they’re all hugely important, but a gorgeous backdrop is nothing without the right light. I love finding a spot underneath a big oak tree with just the perfect amount of diffusion and light speckling, or a big covered front porch reflecting light from multiple directions! And I love love love finding that perfect oh-so soft backlighting which can be rather elusive. I’m editing away at Pembry & Pedro’s lovely Bray’s Island wedding, when I just wanted to share this gorgeous shot, which was taken after our “bride + groom” shots while we were walking back towards the reception. I love the way the evening light is hitting the arching Spanish Moss!
Rice Ink Inspiration
I always love hearing stories of a bride finding inspiration for their wedding from my photos! I just saw the beautiful hand-painted invitations that Kristy over at Rice Ink designed using images of Courtney & Chris’s Spring wedding as inspiration!
One Bada** Bride!
I’ve been a busy bee! In the last 10 days I’ve shot 3 weddings, one rehearsal, one bridal portrait, one engagement session, not to mention tried to keep regular office hours! And though normally I’m very strict about editing everything in the order I shot it in, I bumped one wedding ahead of the bunch this week, pulled a couple late nights and finished early . Why? Because I was on a very strict time constraint. After spending months planning her perfect wedding, Jamie, a technical sergeant with the Air Force, was called up for deployment to Afghanistan 9 days after her wedding! So much for a honeymoon, huh! But Jamie and Joey didn’t let the looming deployment spoil their day. The wedding, which took place on Folly, went off without a hitch with an all-out bash to follow. Congratulations again and again Jamie and Joey! I feel so honored to have worked for you!
